Community Tree Lighting and Opening Night Festivities

Friday, December 8th | 6:00pm – 8:00pm

It’s almost that special time of year again and we are hard at work planning for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Uptown for the Holidays events – one of our favorite ways to give back to our the whole Athens area community.

The Community Tree Lighting and Opening Night Events will take place on Friday, December 8th, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, when the big man in red himself will be whisked into town on a horse-drawn wagon to take pictures with visitors Santa’s Workshop, located at the corner of Washington and Court Streets. The festivities will continue all night, with horse-drawn wagon rides and special holiday activities hosted by members of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and the Athens Uptown Business Association (AUBA).

Throughout the rest of December, Santa, wagon rides, live musical acts, and more will be featured on Thursdays and Saturdays to make your holiday shopping more magical.

Selfies with Santa

The big man himself will be riding into town to see visit with families and take a selfie with him at Santa’s Workshop (located at the corner of Court and Washington St.).

Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides

We are lucky to once again have Hutchison Horse-Drawn Wagon and Carriage Service giving horse-drawn wagon rides around Uptown Athens during the following times and dates. Wagon rides start and finish at the corner of Court and Washington Street. Thank you to our Opening Night Wagon Ride Sponsor: Visit Athens County.

Musical Performance:

The Federal-Hocking Holiday Brass band will be on hand from 6:00 – 7:00pm to perform holiday classics at the corner of Court and Washington Street.

Santa’s Mailbox:

Bring a letter and drop it in the mailbox on the side of Santa’s Workshop and Santa will write back!
