Athens Area Women’s Summit: Step In. Reach Out. Lift Up.
Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center.
The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the inaugural Athens Area Women’s Summit on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center. This all-day conference has been designed to inspire and empower attendees from all career fields and levels. Inspirational speakers and community exemplars will take attendees through a journey of personal and professional development through both academic approaches and real-life experiences.
This first-ever Summit will focus on the theme Step In. Reach Out. Lift Up. and have approximately 120 attendees, 10 speakers, and 2 keynote addresses. The morning keynote address will feature Nicole J. Phillips, author of Kindness is Contagious. Ms. Phillips’ mission is to draw readers into a community of love and kindness. Her goal is for you to feel inspired to live a life filled with joy and believes that happens when we take a leap of faith, step out of our comfort zone, and connect with other people through acts of kindness. Ms. Phillips finds boundless joy in speaking to groups about kindness and we look forward to having her open the Women’s Summit with her message on living courageously kind!
Beatrice Selotlegeng will close out the conference at the Keynote, Coffee, and Cocktails address. Attendees will have the opportunity to grab a cup of coffee or a cocktail before they settle in for a truly inspiring talk on Persistence: Achieving Your Own Version of Success. Ms. Selotlegeng was born and raised in Kenya and relocated to Botswana at age 25. Here, she began her career as a stewardess and worked her way up to acting CEO of Air Botswana. She also took on a side role mentoring an Ohio University student, which led to her current position as the Director of the Junior Executive Business Program at Ohio University’s College of Business. She will touch on her life experiences and lessons learned throughout the day to leave the group feeling ready to take on any challenge.
