Ohio Valley Summer Theater
This year, Ohio Valley Summer Theater (OVST) is celebrating its 65th anniversary since their first production in 1951. OVST is a hybrid performing arts organization that works in collaboration with the Southeastern Ohio community and Ohio University. University and community artists participate in productions that provide community enjoyment as well as education and training for OHIO students.
OVST’s 2016 season will produce “Man of La Mancha.” The season is dedicated to the memory of Bob Winters, a regional arts legend, OHIO Division of Theater professor, and committed OVST Artistic Director and board member who passed away in 2014.
Registration for OVST’s Youth Theater Camp is now open. The camp runs from June 6th to June 24th at Arts/West in Athens and accepts rising 2nd graders to high school seniors. OVST’s Youth Theater Camp provides education into the theater world and includes skill building in character development, movement and dance, costumes, and technical skills. This year’s theme focuses on Japanese theater. The camp culminates in a play produced and performed by the campers. Camp registrations will be accepted until May 31st.
“A central tenet of the OVST mission is to be connected and responsive to our community. Membership with the Chamber is another way to continue to network, advance, and participate in the amazing work being done throughout the region,” says Christi Camper Moore, Ph.D., Executive Director/Artistic Coordinator.
