Athens Area Chamber President Kristin Miller
The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Kristin Miller as its new President. Kristin replaces Dani Esperanza, who took over the presidency in January 2020.
Currently, Kristin serves as the Membership Coordinator for the Chamber, and while the first day of her presidential tenure will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2022, she has already started to prepare for the transition with Dani, whose last official day as President will be Thursday, September 15. That final day, September 15th, is the date of the Celebrate Athens Auction and Dinner, and the event will serve as the public transition of the presidency from Dani to Kristin – Dani will kick-off the dinner with their final address as President, and following the live auction Kristin will be formally introduced to the membership and then she will present and seal the Celebrate Athens Time Capsule.
As President, Kristin will oversee the Chamber’s operations and events, ensure that the Chamber is fulfilling the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan, and collaborate with Chamber staff to ensure the continuity of Chamber programs and services. Kristin is ready to take on this new role: “It is an honor to work with an incredible staff, Board of Directors, and member businesses in this new role. I am excited for the future of our Chamber!”
While Kristin joined the Chamber staff in May 2022 as the Membership Coordinator, she first served the Chamber as an Ambassador from 2008-2012. Previous to her taking on the Membership Coordinator role, Kristin worked at the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she served as the Communications Manager and then the Digital Content Manager. An Athens native, Kristin has a deep love for the Athens community and throughout her career she has developed strong, lasting business relationships that will help the Chamber in its mission to strengthen the Athens business community.
According to Kristi Kinnard, President of the Board of Directors, the Chamber’s Board is excited and confident in Miller’s new leadership role: “The Board of Directors were thrilled to hear of Kristin Miller’s interest in the President opening. While newer to the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce staff, she has had years of experience in this community, building relationships with businesses and organizations. Her time served as an ambassador, experience working in small business, and love of the Athens area will serve her well as she settles into her new role. We are so grateful for the contributions Dani Esperanza has made to this organization and are glad that Dani and Kristin will have an overlap to make sure the organization stays on track with our strategic plan and busy Fall event season.”
