The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the fifth annual Athens Area Women’s Summit on Friday, October 22, 2021. We are providing the opportunity for you to submit a conference proposal for this year’s conference!
The Women’s Summit Planning Committee strives to create an event that reflects the communities we serve and where everyone feels empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to this event.
We celebrate the diversity of our Athens community leaders, and know that it is diversity that helps to drive innovation. The Athens Area Women’s Summit is a place in which diverse leaders are celebrated and cultivated.
Honorarium:
To help us align with our commitment to understanding the diversity of experiences, we recognize that as folks from minoritized populations are often expected to provide their time and knowledge without compensation, we commit to provide an honorarium of $300 for any individual who is selected to present for the 2021 Athens Area Women’s Summit.
Conference Themes:
We invite you to submit a proposal for our 2021 summit. The committee encourages proposals that address self-empowerment, confidence building, connections to women’s leadership and anti-racism or social justice more broadly, which also work to support the overarching themes of the summit:
Step In… And Take Control of Your Destiny
Proposals focused on the “Step In” theme have historically been focused on personal, professional, and/or leadership development. Sessions under this theme have included how to combat imposter syndrome, finding your passion, women’s health, financial literacy, and discovering the leader within you!
Reach Out… To Help Someone Achieve Success
Proposals focused on the “Reach Out” theme have historically been focused on how one can personally empower others. Sessions under this theme have included effective mentorship and navigating generational differences.
Lift Up… Others around You
Proposals focused on “Lift Up” theme have historically been focused on how we can improve the culture for those around us and our communities, so that we are supporting our peers in positive ways and providing them with opportunities to advance. Sessions under this theme have included improved body image and language, allyship, and combatting implicit bias.
Timeline:
Please submit your session proposal using this online form by July 23, 2021. We hope to notify you the first week of August if your session has been accepted.
